Patient care conferences and case presentations by residents on an ongoing schedule provide a valuable teaching vehicle to discuss interesting patient treatment plans. Residents work closely with attending dentists to ensure the learning experience is both enriching and meaningful.
Literature Review
Residents participate in academic literature review sessions six times per year. The residents are assigned topics and journals to review and present at each session. These conferences are held in the Center for Dental Health and the Medical Library.
Sports Dentistry
Through the hospital's expanding sports dentistry program, residents mark with college and high school athletic teams and have the opportunity to gain direct hands-on experience in sports dentistry. Additionally, because the hospital is a vital part of the greater Akron and Summit county area, health fairs and community presentations offer the residents an active role in community outreach.
